Ten minutes' drive from Domaine de Serre

Located at the entrance to the "Parc Naturel Régional des volcans d'Auvergne", Salers is an architectural jewel ranked among "The most beautiful Villages of France . It is built on two basalt rocks , between Mauriac and Aurillac

You will be transported from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance . In St-Matthieu's church entered by an earlier roman style porch , be sure to see the remarkable " Mise au Tombeau " , a polychrome stone sculpture from the late 15th century and the 17th century tapestries . And remember ... that , during the hundred years war , its inhabitants fortified their city to protect from the English!

Le Puy Mary

Puy Mary is a distinctive peak in the very centre of the Monts du Cantal with a fine viewpoint. The volcanic ruins of the  Monts du Cantal are seen to perfection from the top. It is ranked on the " Grands Sites de France " register . Thousands of visitors climb it from the Pas de Peyrol ( pass ) every year.

Castle Anjony

You can't leave Cantal without visiting Anjony Castle . It was built approximately in the year 1430 by Louis d'Anjony, one of Joan of Arc's companion whose mission was to represent the king's authority.

The dungeon of Anjony is a typical example of the mountain fortresses built in the 15th century .which from the outside  may seem stately and severe. Its rooms are richly furnished and decorated with outstanding 16th century frescoes.
